Our commitment

Brighton & Hove Housing Coalition is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we have done

  • All images have descriptive alt text or are marked as decorative
  • All form fields have visible labels
  • Keyboard navigation is fully supported
  • Skip to main content link is available at the top of every page
  • Colour contrast meets WCAG AA standards across all text sizes
  • Dark mode is available via the toggle in the header
  • The site is fully functional without JavaScript for core content
  • All interactive elements have visible focus states
  • Language selector allows translation into 12+ languages via Google Translate
  • Forms include clear error messages linked to the relevant fields via ARIA

Language accessibility

We recognise that Brighton & Hove is home to diverse communities. The language selector in the header allows this website to be translated into Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), French, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Somali, Ukrainian, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, Turkish, and German via Google Translate. We welcome feedback on translation quality.

Known limitations

Some older embedded third-party content may not meet all accessibility standards. We are working to address these issues as they are identified. The Google Translate widget and Change.org petition are third-party services whose accessibility is outside our direct control.
