Coalition Mission

Residents working together for truly affordable safe homes, better policy, and lived experience at the core of service design.

Brighton & Hove Housing Coalition exists to connect resident voice with evidence, action, and accountability. We use our Justice Engine to turn real experiences into campaigns, scrutiny, practical reform, and democratic participation that does not depend on attending meetings.

4Core workstreams
6Process steps
1Shared public mission

What we do

We combine lived experience, public evidence, and collective pressure so housing problems are documented properly and acted on publicly.

EXHIBIT

Evidence and scrutiny

We read council reports, track budgets, review contracts, gather records, and build a public evidence base that makes hidden decisions visible.

FocusDocuments, timelines, decisions, and accountability.
EXHIBIT

Resident support and collaboration

We help residents explain what is happening, organise the facts, and work through next steps with clarity, dignity, and respect.

FocusListening, guidance, collaboration, and follow-up.
URGENT

Campaigns and lobbying

We turn evidence into public pressure through campaigns, petitions, deputations, statements, and direct challenge where needed.

FocusPublic pressure, member action, and political challenge.
EXHIBIT

Policy and reform

We push for practical changes in housing policy, homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation, and service design rooted in real experience.

FocusBetter policy, better services, better outcomes.

Why this project matters

We are building more than a website. This is a civic technology platform for resident participation, transparent governance, and evidence-led campaigning.

How the work moves

A simple path for residents, a more detailed path for campaigners, and a clear process for turning concern into action.

View Case Files

1. Report

A resident, member, or ally raises a housing issue, service failure, or possible breach of duty.

2. Triage

We assess urgency, check context, and identify the right route: advice, campaign, scrutiny, or legal action.

3. Verify

We gather documents, compare accounts, confirm dates, and make sure the record is strong enough to publish.

4. Publish

We turn the issue into a public case, a briefing, a campaign page, or a statement that can be shared widely.

5. Escalate

We challenge power through deputations, petitions, FOI follow-up, meetings, or legal and policy routes.

6. Follow up

We track responses, deadlines, actions, and outcomes so nothing disappears quietly.

These pages connect the mission to the work itself, so residents can move from understanding to action in a single flow.
