Coronavirus (Covid-19) : Coalition statement on the Crisis

Our homeless citizens are most at risk in this emergency. “People experiencing homelessness are a very high-risk group [for covid-19]. Compared to the general population people experiencing homelessness are 2.5 times more likely to have asthma, 6.5 times more likely to have heart disease, 10 times more likely to have COPD and 34 times more likely to have tuberculosis” (Pathway).

Brighton & Hove Housing Coalition calls for Local Authorities to end homelessness

As lockdown measures are eased, we are extremely concerned that some homeless people, particularly those with NRPF, may be evicted from council-provided accommodation and be forced to return to destitution. This would be a moral, humanitarian and public health catastrophe, especially given that many shelters will be unable to reopen due to ongoing social distancing requirements.
